Jean-Baptiste "Illinois" Jacquet was an American jazz tenor saxophonist, best known for his solo on Lionel Hampton's 1942 hit "Flying Home." He was a pioneer of the honking tenor saxophone sound and a prominent figure in the Swing and Rhythm and Blues eras. Jacquet continued to perform and record for over six decades, influencing countless musicians.
